Theatre North West Announces its 2015/16 Season

A blended season that has something for everyone and in many cases a lot for many. It is a celebration of Aesthetic and Taste, offering the Prince George Audiences a banquet of theatre that entices all the senses and gives audiences 6 totally different and exciting experiences that they can take home with them and enjoy and talk about long after they’ve seen the shows!

Theatre NorthWest is excited to present its 2015/16 Season Series that includes 6 total productions including 4 main stage productions and two tours! Also new subscription packages available as well. New Subscription Coming Soon. (Hearing Assisted devices available for hearing impaired)

MAIN STAGE SERIES

ART – by Yasmina Reza: Directed by Jack Grinhaus Running September 17 to October 7, 2015
This hysterical fast paced comedy that won the Tony for Best New Play and followed a 600 performance run on Broadway has been translated in a number of languages and is still one of the top earning plays around the world. When Serge buys a completely white painting for $200,000.00 his friend Mark is infuriated and friend Ivan is confused. The next 90 Minutes is a non stop riot as the three friends madly debate the issue as the core values of their friendships begin to unravel!

A CHRISTMAS CAROL New Original Adaptation and Directed by Heather Davies: Running November 19 to Dec 9, 2015
Internationally acclaimed adapter and director Heather Davies takes a twist on the magical tale of redemption of Ebeneezer Scrooge with a Steampunk/Tim Burton visual splendor. Highly Theatrical this is A Christmas Carol like you have never seen and one being created and premiered for our PG audiences. This one is not to be missed!

DREARY AND IZZYWritten and Directed by Tara Beagan: Running January 28 to February 17, 2016
From the playwright that brought TNW Thy Neighbours Wife comes this beautiful tale about two First Nations sisters that show us the true power of unconditional love. After the loss of their parents the Monoghan sisters find inspiration in the form of an attractive vacuum cleaner salesman. As relevant to PG life as it is entertaining this play will capture the love and imagination in all of us.

GIRL IN THE GOLDFISH BOWLBy Morris Panych and Directed by Daryl Cloran: Running April 7 to April 27, 2016
The 2004 Governor General’s Award winning play by one of Canada’s greatest living modern playwrights is about a family in rural British Columbia. When Iris’s goldfish Amal dies and her father has flushed him down the toilet Iris takes a frozen fish stick to the ocean to bury him. When she arrives she finds a man there she believes is Amal reincarnated. “She brings him home and it is into the goldfish bowl of her dysfunctional family of lethargic piranhas, existential bottom-feeders, and aggressive guppies that the audience peers with acute recognition, hysterical laughter, and an overwhelming sense of the creative healing power of the imagination.”

SECOND STAGEPRESENTATION SERIES

Innovation Piece –  Tale of a Town by FixTPoint Theatre. Running March 2016 This installation promenade piece is based on sourcing materials from local residents of Prince George and then theatrically presenting them back to audiences via podcast and a walking tour of the downtown; illuminating all the things that are PG.

Theatre for Young Audiences – Where the Wild Things Are: by Presentation House (Vancouver).  Running May 20-30 2016. Maurice Sendak’s classic tale that has been a touring hit around the continent in this exciting production aimed at 3 t o7 years old and adults!

Music Series – Ode to Woodstock! Doug Jack and Friends perform a celebration of the songs of the 60’s!
